'Imagine' by John Lennon |
Lyrics of "Imagine"
Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today...
Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world...
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Artist Biography
John Lennon
John Winston Ono Lennon was an English rock musician, singer-songwriter, writer, and peace protester. He was also one of the founding members of the English Rock Band known as The Beatles. Lennon exposed a rebellious nature and biting humor in his music, on film, in books, and at press conferences and even interviews. He was divisive through his work as a peace activist and visual artist. After disconnecting from The Beatles, Lennon had the benefit of a winning solo career.
He came up with highly-praised albums like John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band and Imagine. Symbolic songs such as "Give Peace a Chance" and "Imagine” were also gifted to the nation by him. The album- Imagine and its title song Imagine, was a passion of John Lennon which also turned to be the most-profit-making song of his career. It shaped up his dream for the world and his optimism. It later became an anthem for anti-war movements. He also recorded other solo singles: the anti-war anthem, "Cold Turkey", and "Instant Karma!” Lennon took a self-imposed "retirement" in 1980, after which he reappeared with a comeback album, Double Fantasy, but was murdered less than one month after its release. Lennon had also written and recorded sufficient material for another forthcoming album and was already planning his record, Milk and Honey, which was released posthumously in 1984.
Billboard has ranked John Lennon as the second most successful songwriter in singles chart history after McCartney. In 2002, respondents voted Lennon eighth, to a BBC poll on the 100 Greatest Britons. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine positioned Lennon number 38 on its list of "The Immortals: The Fifty Greatest Artists of All Time". In 2008, he was also ranked fifth greatest singer of all time by Rolling Stone. He was posthumously included into both the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.
