Lyrics of "Blowin’ in the Wind"

How many roads most a man walk down
Before you call him a man ?
How many seas must a white dove sail
Before she sleeps in the sand ?
Yes, how many times must the cannon balls fly
Before they're forever banned ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many years can a mountain exist
Before it's washed to the sea ?
Yes, how many years can some people exist
Before they're allowed to be free ?
Yes, how many times can a man turn his head
Pretending he just doesn't see ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Yes, how many times must a man look up
Before he can see the sky ?
Yes, how many ears must one man have
Before he can hear people cry ?
Yes, how many deaths will it take till he knows
That too many people have died ?
The answer my friend is blowin' in the wind
The answer is blowin' in the wind.

Artist Biography

The Beatles

The Beatles was an English rock band, created in Liverpool in 1960. It was one of the foremost groups who wrote the majority of its own material and was one who launched the epoch of everlasting federal pop. They were one of self-sufficient bands and as individualities they were successful in defining '60s style which was quite stylish, romantic, lighthearted and diverse.

From 1962 the group encompassed Paul McCartney for pleasing bass lines, Ringo Starr for drumming, George Harrison who gave guitar leads, John Lennon for forceful rhythm guitar —added with their four zealous voices of course. It was basically rooted in skiffle and rock and roll but it later also worked in several genres varying from folk pop to psychedelic pop in which they frequently added classical elements in inventive ways.

The Beatles musical career from the not-so-simple love songs, reached to perfection in studio shows. They actually initiated in 1960 and for three years after then they built-up their status in Liverpool and Hamburg clubs. The Beatles attained UK conventional hit in late 1962 with their first single, "Love Me Do".

The years, 1963 and 1964 proved to be the most imperative years in their careers. Infact, 1964 was their biggest year when they conquered the biggest record market in the world - America. Allmusic portrayed The Beatles as "a sequel of the highest order—one that betters the original by developing its own tone and adding depth. The song- "I Want to Hold Your Hand", after its release in 1963 was rated The Beatles' best-selling single worldwide. Their song-“Yesterday”, which was released in 1965, was also voted as the #1 Pop song of all time by MTV and Rolling Stone Magazine. Many other hits followed “Hey Jude” (1968) which gained position in professional lists of the all-time best songs and like “Let It Be”(1970) which was #1 in US chart. They toured largely until 1966 after advancing international fame over the course of the years.

Later they moved back to the recording studio till they fragmented in 1970. Each of them then successfully established an independent musical career.

Almost four decades after their breakup, The Beatles' music still maintains its popularity.

In 1970, The Beatles film Let It Be won the Academy Award for Best Original Song Score. The Beatles also received 7 Grammy Awards and 15 Ivor Novello Awards. In the United States, they have been rewarded 6 Diamond albums, as well as 24 Multi-Platinum albums, 39 Platinum albums and 45 Gold albums. The group was included into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. In 2008, The Beatles was ranked number onewhen Billboard magazine released a list of the all-time top-selling Hot 100 artists. Recently, in 2009, the Recording Industry Association of America accredited that The Beatles have sold more albums in the US than any other artist.
