'Purple Haze' by Jimi Hendrix |
Lyrics of Purple Haze
Purple haze all in my brain
lately things don't seem the same
Acting funny and i don't know why
excuse me while i kiss the sky
Purple haze all around
don't know if I'm going up or down
am i happy or in misery?
whatever at is a girl put a spell on me
Purple haze all in my eyes
don't know if it's day or night
you've got me blowin', blowin' my mind
is it tomorrow or just the end of time
help me, help me
i don't know
cant go on like this
blow my mind

Artist Biography
Jimi Hendrix
James Marshall well-known as Jimi Hendrix was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter. He pioneered the volatile possibilities of the electric guitar and was broadly identified as one of the most creative and significant instrumentalist of 20th century. A new form of music was created by him with the help of his ground-breaking style of merging fuzz, criticism and restricted distortion. Inspite of the fact that, he was not able to read and write music his melodious language persists to influence a host of contemporary musicians.
In 1963 after leaving military, Hendrix practiced his music. He worked as a session musician and playing endorsement for other performers. Hendrix was first noticed by audiences in his emergence on the ‘Testify’ in 1964 with The Isley Brothers. In 1966 he formed his own band, The Blue Flame which performed at several places in New York. Then he formed another band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, first release of which was seen in 1967, the group’s debut US album-Are You Experienced? “Purple Haze”, which is often quoted as greatest song of Jimi Hendrix and which was formerly released as a single appeared in this album. The song is identified by many as Hendrix’s signature song. Followed shortly by “Purple Haze”, their single, "Hey Joe," reached Number Six on the U.K. chart in 1967.Hendrix’s next album- Axis: Bold as Love was also released in the same year. It was with it where he first experimented with format of using much panning and other hi-fi effects. His third double album released in 1968 was ‘Electric Ladyland’ which comprised many memorable compositions and arrangements of Hendrix.
In 1969, there was a fall in relationship with his band mates which went together with his escalating musical prospect with eventually resulted in their breakup. However in the same year he formed one more new band, Gypsy Suns and Rainbows in order to play the Woodstock festival. On the contrary, the band was transient after which Jimi again formed the next band, Band of Gypsys. The group later performed four unforgettable concerts on New Year’s Eve 1969-70 and was recognized as one of the concerts which included Hendrix's best live concerts. He nevertheless gave his last performance in UK at the Isle of Wight Festival where he also expressed his unhappiness at his fans’ loud outcry to hear his old hits rather than his new ones.
Hendrix was honored with many awards after his demise. Most of them were the most high-status rock music awards which included, being inducted into the US Rock and Rock Hall of Fame and Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1992. he was the first person placed ceremoniously in the Native American Music Hall of Fame. In 2003, Rolling stone named Hendrix the top guitarist on its list of the 100 greatest guitarists of all-time and his debut album-Are you experienced was placed into the US National Recording Registry in 2006.
